About the Founder
Ann Parsley
is the founder of the Macomb Ballet Company.  A
teacher of ballet and professional choreographer for more than 35
years, she holds the highest certification in the Cecchetti method of
ballet – the Maestro Enrico Cecchetti Diploma.  She is a Permanent
Examiner and Past-president of the Cecchetti Council of America.  
She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance from Oakland
University, and accepted the first Outstanding Alumni Award in
Dance presented by Oakland University in 1997.  Many of Ms. Parsley’
s students have achieved both degrees in Dance and professional
status as dancers, teachers and choreographers in the theatre, film and
television industries.

About the Director
Amber Megna Michalik
is the Director of the Macomb Ballet
Company.  She founded the Junior Macomb Ballet Company, the first
non-profit dance company for children in Macomb County.  Ms.
Michalik also served as the Assistant Director of the Macomb Ballet
Company for six years.  A former member of the Macomb Ballet
Company, she has danced in Les Sylphides, Peter and the Wolf,
Cinderella and The Nutcracker and has danced solo roles in The
Sleeping Beauty and Coppelia.  Ms. Michalik is a certified Cecchetti
teacher and is also a member of the Board of Directors for the
Cecchetti Council of America Eastern Michigan Committee.  She
attended Oakland University on an academic scholarship where she
pursued dance and business.  While at Oakland, Amber was a member
of the Oakland Dance Theatre.  Ms. Michalik graduated with honors
from Oakland University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performing
Arts Management.  Recently, Ms. Michalik became the new owner and
director of Ann Parsley School of Dance.

About the Assistant Directors
Sarah Boik
is in her third season as the Assistant Director of the
Macomb Ballet Company.  She hold the Cecchetti Student
Certification, Levels I-VII and the Cecchetti Teachers Certification,
Levels I-III.  She is a former member of the Macomb Ballet Company
and has performed in many classical ballets such as,
Coppelia, Sleeping
Beauty, Peter and the Wolf, The Wizard of Oz
and Un Encuentro.  Ms. Boik
has augmented her training through summer intensives with the Joffrey
Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and the American College Dance
Festival.  Sarah received a dance scholarship from Oakland University
and is currently attending nursing school.  Sarah has performed in the
professional Opera
Turandot at the Detroit Opera House and was a
member of the Detroit Opera Theatre's Civic Dance Ensemble.

Mary Sherman has been involved in the dance arts for over 45 years.  
Having started dancing at the age of seven, Mary has studied with
some of Michigan's most renowned teachers:  Sam Lovett, Amy
Ingham, Claudann Solwald and Rose Marie Floyd.  In 1976, after
graduating from Oakland University with a B.A. in Sociology, Mary
founded the Romeo Civic Ballet Company.  She has had the pleasure
of training many successful dancers.  She remained owner/director
there until 2001 and has continued to teach at the Center the years
following.  She has appeared on television as a dance specialist, taught
dance to the mentally challenged and has coached other Cecchetti
teachers in the method by which she is certified.  In 1990, she was
named Michigan Dance Teacher of the Year by the Michigan Council
for the Arts.  She has led a Christian lyrical workshop group over the
last four years.
